General Information


Badges
Each participant will receive a name badge upon registration. For security reasons all participants are requested to wear their badge during all the Conference activities and social events.


Banks, Credit Cards and Currency Exchange
Banks are open between 09.30/10.00 and 15.00 on weekdays. Some banks in central Stockholm are open from 09.00 to 17.00. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops. It is advisable to carry an identity card or any form of photo identification. The official currency is Swedish Krona (SEK). USD 1 = SEK 7,23 EUR 1 = SEK 10.09 (February, 2010). For money exchange, the companies "Forex" and "X-change" have offices at the airports and in the city. Climate and Dress
The weather in Stockholm at this time of the year is usually nice and sunny with temperatures approximately 20-25 degrees Celsius; showers may occur. Informal dress is recommended.

Electricity
Electrical current in Sweden is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European-style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.

Transportations

Upon Arrival

Public transportation
Airport coaches leave from Arlanda airport (Stockholm’s international airport) every 10 minutes for City terminal downtown Stockholm. The bus ride takes approximately 45 minutes and costs SEK 119. There is also the Arlanda Express, an express train service that takes you from Arlanda Airport in 20 minutes to the City terminal. Train departs approximately every 15 minutes. A one-way ticket costs SEK 240. From the City terminal “Centralen” there is a subway connection to station “Slussen” subway ride approx 5 minutes. When you enter the subway ask for a ticket to Saltsjöbaden (costs SEK 60). From Slussen there is a commuter train about every 30 minutes leaving for Saltsjöbaden. The end station is just outside the Grand Saltsjöbaden Hotel.

By taxi
If you decide to go by taxi please note that you have to get a cab with fixed price. The best option is “Taxi Kurir” fixed price from Arlanda to the comuter train station at “Slussen” to proceed to Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden is 490 SEK They also have a fixed price of 695 SEK from Arlanda to the Grand Hotel, Saltsjöbaden. There are normally plenty of “Taxi Kurirs” cars at Arlanda if not the second best option is “Taxi Stockholm” their corresponding prices are 520 SEK and 750 SEK respectively. Make sure that you are going to Hotel Grand Saltsjöbaden as there are another Grand Hotel downtown where we not want you to end up.

Upon Departure

Bus transfer
There will be Conference run bus transfers from Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden to the City Terminal on Sunday July 3. The buses will start to leave from the hotel from 15:15. Airport coaches leave the City Terminal in central Stockholm every 10 minutes for Arlanda airport (Stockholm’s international airport) The bus ride takes approximately 45 minutes and costs SEK 119. The time zone in Stockholm is GMT + 1 hour. Daylight Saving Time is used during the summer.


Tipping
A gratuity is included in the price of hotels and taxis. It is common to leave a tip of around 10%, however. When visiting restaurants, you can show your appreciation for good service by leaving a little extra.


VAT Refund Conditions
Swedish VAT, currently between 6% and 25% may be repaid to foreign enterprises, except banks and insurance companies, or companies providing health care or education. Information about the refunding of VAT will be available from the Conference Secretariat.
